For naturalization interviews, green card interviews, asylum interviews, and other USCIS appointments, preparation includes: mock interviews conducted with the attorney in English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati or Swahili, review of the questions USCIS officers typically ask, practice answering in English (where required) with coaching on comprehension, a document checklist explained in your language, an explanation of interview procedures and what to expect, and strategies for handling difficult questions. For interviews that test English ability (naturalization), we help you practice English responses while making sure you understand each question. For interviews conducted in your own language (such as marriage-based green card interviews), we help you prepare your testimony in that language.

Do you provide translation services for immigration documents?

USCIS, immigration courts and consulates require a certified English translation of every foreign-language document — birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees, death certificates, police certificates, military records, employment letters, academic transcripts, and other supporting evidence. We do not translate documents ourselves, but we tell you exactly which documents need certified translation and what the certification must say, and the attorney reviews the original and the English translation with you for accuracy and completeness before submission. Affidavits, personal statements and declarations are prepared with you in English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati or Swahili before the final English version is prepared.

Can I bring an interpreter to my USCIS interview?

Yes, in most cases. USCIS allows interpreters for most interview types including green card interviews (I-485 adjustment of status), asylum interviews, K-1 fiancé visa interviews, family petition interviews, and most other immigration interviews. The interpreter must be fluent in both English and your language, must be a separate person from your attorney, and must be at least 18 years old. USCIS does not provide interpreters for these interviews — you must bring your own. For naturalization interviews, English ability is required and tested, with limited exceptions for applicants over 50 or 55 with long-term green card status, or with a qualifying disability. The attorney attends the interview as your legal representative; where your language is Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati or Swahili, your preparation beforehand is done directly in that language. How much does a bilingual immigration attorney cost in New York?

The fee is the same for every client regardless of the language you speak — there is no extra charge for working in Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati or Swahili. Flat fees are quoted in writing before work starts, and payment plans are available. Government filing fees are set by USCIS, published on uscis.gov, and listed separately from the attorney fee. Consultations are confidential and paid; schedule one to discuss your case and receive a written quote.

Can you help with asylum cases in languages other than English?

Yes. Asylum applications involve detailed testimony about persecution you suffered or fear in your home country based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. Describing traumatic experiences and explaining your fear requires clear, nuanced communication. Where Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati or Swahili is your language, the attorney prepares your asylum declaration with you directly in that language before it is finalized in English, gathers country conditions evidence, and prepares you for the asylum interview or immigration court hearing. If your language is not one of these, the asylum office requires you to bring a qualified interpreter to the interview and the immigration court arranges its own — tell us when you call and we will discuss how to proceed.
